Lola's Southern Cuisine

A wonderful southern food restaurant in Medford, NY ran by a husband and wife duo was in need of a new website. As the restaurant was nearing its two year anniversary, they needed a website that really captured the essence of what Lola's Southern Cuisine deserved to be.

The Challenge

The biggest challenge with this project was to create content, design the site, develop it, get approval, and launch it before their two year anniversary. It was a rather tight deadline for a new client. There was no real content on their site, and the menu on it was outdated. Basically, everything had to be recreated from scratch with only print materials to use as reference.

The Goal

The goal of this site is to make sure there is an easy way to access the menu, and allow the restaurant to easily field catering orders. Some secondary goals include pushing people to online orders through Doordash, and establishing the brand and pushing brand awareness, as the restaurant was still relatively new compared to others in the area.

The Process

This was an expedited project, so the process had to be solid. First, content was created based on a newspaper write-up and other print collateral the restaurant had. Then, a mockup was created to make sure both parties were in agreement on not only the design and color scheme, but also the organization of content.

They also had a food photographer come in to take some new staged photos of the food, which were then used in tandem with older photos, which helped to avoid the overuse of stock photography and provide more personality to the site.

Lola's New Flavorful Website

Lola's Southern Cuisine received an entirely new facelift for their website. A comfortable color palette that matched their current branding was used, while breathing some fresh air into it. The food menu is easy to get to and has a its own sub-navigation to help the user look through it without exhaustive scrolling. It's easy to find anything you need on the site, whether it's online ordering, pictures of food, the menu, contact form, or just a way to understand what Lola's is all about.
